Hoosier National Forest Camping Trip

If the great outdoors sounds like fun to you, you'll certainly appreciate the pictures from this camping trip.

Preparation was very important due to our remote location which included no electricity, nor access to water (showers, spigots, nor flushing commodes).

We started out on Saturday, April 20th at 7:00 a.m. and returned on Sunday, April 21st at 2:00 p.m.

First we set up camp (tents, eating area, etc.) and then we jumped right into the experience with an early lunch of roasted hotdogs...

After lunch, we geared up and went for a small hike through the trails.

After about 30 to 45 minutes, we reached our recreational destination where we fished and enjoyed the beautiful day.

After fishing, we decided to enjoy the nature around us and take a few moments for some scenic pictures.

We then went back to camp and relaxed for a little while. After resting, a smaller group went for a five mile hike.

You'll quickly notice in the pictures below that we certainly rejoiced at finding a small water hole and gladly entered the cold water that we found for a much needed rest during the five mile hike. The terrain was hilly and quite adventurous.

After our return from our hike, everyone was certainly glad to see our much needed camp cook return to camp and start cooking the evening supper. Chris and Beth fixed chicken, beans, and sliced potatoes. After a long day, we certainly had a hearty appetite and as a result, we kept Chris and Beth busy fixing food!

After supper, we had Smores for dessert. Mmmmm Smores...

In the first picture below, you'll notice that Rachel is "Bark Bass" fishing. I don't think Rachel caught anything, but she sure got in some practice.

After a solid (yeah right) nights rest, it's morning already!

The first and second pictures below are the view from my tent. The second picture is what I see while I am looking backwards while I am resting. How peaceful and interesting!

Our church service was held in the beautiful and sunny outdoors - what a great way to experience God's beautiful hand of creation.

Chris and Beth fixed biscuits, scrambled eggs, and bacon for breakfast.

We took it easy in the morning just "hanging-out" and fellowshipping.

We drove to the lake for some additional fishing time.

There is a certain element about a camping trip that seems to open the doors to a lot of fellowship and long lasting friendships.

Certainly thanks goes to Chris and Beth and our Youth Team Chaperones and most importantly to the YOUTH! :)
